This is the Korean automaker's first vehicle available with a V8 engine. It's a seven-passenger SUV that goes on sale in late spring as a 2009 model. Based on a stretched version of the Kia Sorrento, it will be Kia's largest SUV.

Toyota Venza

On sale in late fall

This latest crossover from Toyota leans more heavily toward a sedan than an SUV but still has room for five passengers and plenty of cargo space. Aimed at active boomers and young families, it features loads of standard equipment, plus an optional panoramic roof. Sensors in the headlights automatically dim the high beams when detecting oncoming traffic. It's powered by a 2.7-liter, four-cylinder engine, or an optional 268-hp, 3.5-liter V6.
